Tide - Greenslade - Time And Tide (Vinyl, LP, Album)

Verified Purchase. Gone is the pompous keyboarding of the earlier albums, which have their merits but nowadays seem more than a tad dated. Dave Lawson was always Greenslade's undersung master but was overshadowed on the earlier releases by Dave Greenslade's well-intentioned but directionless keyboard noodling. Elsewhere on the album Dave Greenslade's keyboards are reigned in to good effect; even his instrumental pieces are spare and all the better for it. This is prog rock cut back to the bone, unashamedly melodic, fleet of foot, savvy, concisely intelligent Topographic Oceans in a teacup Greenslade were always regarded as Division 2 prog rock but this overlooked gem of an album was up there with the best of them.

I have been humming these tunes for many many years and you will too PS: Listen to the mellotron-drenched 'Tide' on this album and then listen to the mellotron-like episodes on Joy Division's 'Decades' from the album Closer. Surprisingly similar? A great band and worthwhile remastering their music.

I was looking forward to the additional concert tracks but disappointed to find that I already had them on another CD- Live in Stockholm. Report abuse. Dieci, dieci e ancora dieci. Ottime queste versioni rimasterizzate e ampliate con bonus tracks e, in qualche caso, anche video.

Si spera in una riedizioni in vinile con la ristampa delle splendide copertine di Roger Dean. Il commento vale per tutte e quattro le ristampe.

Ok I deleted my stupid bad review as I was just upset at the company I tried to buy this from and I kind of missed the point that I was complaining about the service I received rather than the music of Greenslade. This is one of my favourite all time albums electrifying sharp songs and instrumentation, always loved the sound of the vocals on this album.

Just wish the folk I bought this copy from had delivered it to me : I see some more are available so I might have another go at getting a new copy! My apologies and thanks to those who pointed out I had missed the point, cheers guys you were dead right! Click here for more info. Sell your Greenslade records to us. We can collect - click here. Shown below are our available and recently sold out items. Greenslade's high energy comes across, and the interplay of keyboards, strings and choir are able to elevate them above the more mundane symphonic rockers of the time.

Not only is the music ear catching, but the illustrations on the cover, of a multi-armed fantastical musician holding the theatrical masks of comedy and tragedy, not only scream of s progressive rock, but they also show how you can complement your vinyl album with large drawings that attract the listeners visual attention as well as their aural attention.

Greenslade was a band that had tons of potential, but never got really close to what they were capable of. One of the reasons was Dave Lawson, not so much his instrumetnal skills, but rather his obnoxiously AWFUL vocals he sounded like an angry Bobcat on its last legs.

If they had just shut up and played they would've gotten a lot further in the prog realm. The best tracks here are the instrumentals with lots of intricate counterpoint, colorful textures and cool changes of meter and tempo. His cohorts were no less capable love Andrew McCollough's drumming especially. There, there, Mr Lawson. Don't let the bullies grind you down. If your vocals are an acquired taste then I have long since acquired it.

I may not understand much of what you're singing about but I defend to the death your right to sing about it incomprehensibly. Well, fisticuffs at dawn at least, if not pistols. I always liked this album. The songs are just the right length, exhubarent in delivery and very musical, whatever that means.

Strong points are the crisp keybords, and outstanding drums. Highlights are Animal farm, Tide, and Catalan.

A good start to this unique band is the compilation "Shades of Green" and an even better introduction is the live-album "Live" with tracks from '73 and '75 , containing some spectacular play on the Minimoog with pitchbend. Download IsraCloud My Blog.
