I've waited almost forty years for a legit release of this gem and finally, here it is. For US fans of Queen the first introduction to this concert may have come by way of its broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour in September of That one hour broadcast less ten minutes of advertising closed as the final notes of "Lap of the Gods" rang through the Odeon.
For time considerations the short instrumental of "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" was excluded from the King Biscuit syndicated version, as were the spoken introduction and the encores included on this CD. This CD gives you the full enchilada. The performance is deliriously good.
As I savored this prize upon its arrival I remembered every nuance; even after all this time I know this show by heart. I'd taped the show off the radio back in '77 and played that cassette to death. The sound quality of this Live CD on a decent hi-fi or similar! The Stranglers were superb live during this period - even if some of their album tracks dipped a little in quality. As another reviewer has said this is probably the best rendition of Golden Brown on a live album at the moment - both the instruments and Hugh's voice are really clear.
Still great to listen to them - great nostalgia for me as I was at this gig - I think it was my 6th Stranglers gig at the time! A recording of a London concert. They are busy promoting their album MeninBlack album which is my least favourite. I was at the gig. The live versions of the new material appeal much more than the somewhat lifeless studio versions and as usual, some great between song banter from Mr Cornwall.

After The Rising Tour , Springsteen had an inkling to dig into film of the early part of his career, the vast majority of which remained "a blank spot," with little or nothing ever released.
He found the film and the track audio recordings. The two-and-a-half-hour concert film was spliced together from 32 reels of silent mm footage, digitally restored frame by frame in a painstaking process that took editor Thom Zimny a full year to complete.
Bob Clearmountain , a veteran of several Springsteen projects, mixed the audio for the CD and film. Actor, writer and Monty Python member Michael Palin was in attendance and devoted an entire diary entry dated Tuesday, November 18, to the concert and his first impression of Springsteen and the band.
He notes that the hype by CBS Records was met with a certain scepticism by the ticket-buying public. He notes that the concert did not start until 45 minutes after the scheduled start time, that the PA system made it difficult for him to make out the lyrics, but Springsteen and the band "kept the evening alive — and he did three encores. The album debuted on the Billboard album chart on March 18, at number 93 with sales of approximately 12, copies sold.
