The system is mostly based on how loud the heart murmurs are and which part or valve area it is coming from. In any case, the loudness of the murmur does not indicate the severity of the illness. There are some cases where heart murmurs are not connected at all with any cat illness and even the loud sounds indicate a relatively mild form of the disease.

In some cases, an ECG or electrocardiogram may be required, depending on the veterinarian's assessment or findings. Blood work, a urinalysis, and blood pressure measurement may also be performed.

The cat may undergo repeat examinations if the heart murmurs persist or other symptoms appear. Depending on the assessment and findings, the veterinarian will provide a treatment plan for the cat's heart murmurs.

Most conditions which cause murmurs are treatable with medicine. Surgery is rarely needed and is not recommended in most cases. The prognosis will still depend on the type of disease found in the cat and its severity. Early detection and immediate treatment will provide a higher chance of recovery and healing.

Chatterjee K. Murmur is the fourth and final boss of the Shadow Labyrinth , an instance wing of Auchindoun. Variously described as a "cosmic being", [2] [3] "extra-planar being", [4] "warp-beast", [5] or "the essence of sound", [2] Murmur is an otherworldly elemental creature from a distant corner of the universe. It was so powerful that its entrance into existence shattered all reality around it. Mindless and existing only for chaos, its barest whisper was enough to destroy entire worlds.

Some mortals tried to worship Murmur as a god , with some even attempting to control it, but the elemental didn't care and likely didn't even notice their presence. When it yawned, they were destroyed. However, one sorcerous mortal somehow managed to survive and devised a ritual through which he and his conspirators could bring Murmur into their world using vast amounts of captured souls.

Whole civilizations were brought to extinction through his soul devices, and eventually he and his allies managed to summon the creature. They used powerful containment and silencing magics—fueled by a constant supply of souls—to keep Murmur contained, but they were unable to bend it to their will and so began devising different strategies.

One after another, they failed, and in the process, they weakened the rituals and accidentally gave Murmur the slightest modicum of freedom. The Codex of Blood is the only thing that survived the subsequent cataclysm that destroyed their world. When Teron'gor and the warlocks of the orcish Shadow Council faced heavy resistance from the draenei entrenched in Auchindoun , they reached beyond the veil of reality in the hopes of summoning a powerful demon to aid them.

Instead, they accidentally summoned Murmur, who materialized within Auchindoun. The shockwave of its arrival blasted the tomb city apart, killed many of the draenei, and leveled the surrounding forests, turning them into a charred wasteland later called the Bone Wastes. After overwhelming the surviving draenei, the Shadow Council contained Murmur within the city and left behind a few warlocks to keep the creature from getting loose and wreaking havoc on the Horde.

Some experienced vets can also diagnose heart murmurs using an ultrasound, though other vets might recommend that you visit a veterinary cardiologist as the next step.

If the murmur is in a young kitten, vets might just recommend a follow up appointment in a few months, since some murmurs in young cats go away on their own.

Unless your cat is in immediate danger of heart failure, the vet will treat them as an outpatient. Generally, you might expect medication, supportive care, and continued monitoring.

The murmur might also be completely harmless, especially if it is in a young cat, in which case the only course of action would be routine diagnostic check-ups. Heart murmurs in cats can be wide and varied, so if you think your cat is having heart trouble or your vet identifies any unusual sounds during a check-up, the best thing you can do is get all of the routine tests done and wait for further treatment plans from your vet.

What experiences have you had with cat heart murmurs? What was the treatment plan? How did you or your vet diagnose the murmur? You may leave a comment about the post, reply to existing comments, or both.

Great and informative post, Jenny! Thank you so much! The only time a vet mentioned a heart murmur to me was this year, shortly before our year-old kitty, Holy Tara, passed away.

A cat's heart murmur may also be linked to extracardiac conditions or conditions outside the heart. For instance, an extracardiac condition may be present when the cat has a fever or infection, though it may occur in cats that are pregnant, obese, or emaciated as well.
